About CAChe
The Chinese Association for Chemosensation (CAChe) was established on December 21, 2024 to support the chemosensory research community in China. Chemosensation encompasses olfaction, taste, trigeminal perception, and interoception. These modalities are closely linked to emotion, memory, and homeostasis, and have wide-ranging applications in medicine, food science, personal care, and ecology. CAChe operates as a branch of the Chinese Society for Cognitive Science.
Mission
CAChe aims to:
- Promote interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration across basic, clinical, and applied chemosensory sciences.
- Integrate field-wide resources to enhance research efficiency and foster innovation.
- Support the professional growth and development of junior scholars.
- Strengthen industry partnerships and advance the translation of scientific discoveries.
- Enhance the international visibility and impact of chemosensation research in China.

About the logo
The CAChe logo consists of three smooth, interconnected strokes representing the nose, the upturned corner of the mouth and tongue, and odor/taste molecules carried by fluid flow (the stroke “丿”). Together, these elements form the Chinese character “化”, symbolizing that organisms rely on chemical senses—olfaction, taste, trigeminal perception, and interoception—to detect the composition, structure, properties, and changes of the chemical environment, thereby generating adaptive behaviors.
About to be held
The 2026 Asian Chemosensory Meeting, held jointly with the 2nd CAChe Annual Meeting, will take place from October 21 to 23, 2026 at ShanghaiTech University, Shanghai, China. The program will feature distinguished speakers from China, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and North America.
Release date: December 15, 2025
The 1st CAChe Annual Meeting was held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, from May 9 to 11, 2025. The program featured keynote lectures by Prof. Minghong Ma (University of Pennsylvania, USA) and Prof. Thomas Hummel (TU Dresden, Germany). Five thematic sessions addressed peripheral and central mechanisms of olfactory perception, basic and clinical research on olfactory-related disorders, taste and interoception, and applied research in chemosensation. A roundtable forum brought together academic experts, leaders of industry associations, and representatives from industry. The meeting also included a vibrant poster session.
